36th National Milo Marathon 2012

I consider running as my first love, because I have been a sprinter since I was on my grade school. Lucky enough, now that I am working I still manage to run, this time it is for long distance running.

I had my 3rd half-marathon run last July 29 during the 36th National Milo Marathon - Manila Elims held in SM Mall of Asia. I must say that it is a challenging run for all the runners out there because of the given cut-off time. You must need to beat the cut-off time so that you will get the certificate and the elusive medal.

Running involves discipline. I needed to wake-up early to travel and hit the destination on-time otherwise I was not able to start the run on time. I was able to meet a gorgeous lady in a public jeep wearing the Milo singlet and I approached her. There I have got a company on my way to the venue. Just being nice and friendly to my fellow runner. It was rainy day but still that is running, rain or shine the event must go on.

Lucky enough to get a good rest a night before the run. Doesn't have enough training for this run due to bad weather during weekends but still managed to do some aerobics after work and that made me quite ready for the challenge. I've done two half-marathon prior to this run but still  pressure is on due to the cut-off time. I was strong enough to finish the run within the cut-off time of 2.5 hours with the time of 02:24.:03 in the rank of 907th place. Good enough and just being proud of myself in beating the time.

breakfast after the run

Running is great especially when with friends. I invited some of my co-employees: Noralyn, Jenalyn, Aileen and Carolyn. It was their first time to join the Milo Marathon and was able to run 5K. Good enough for these ladies to finish their run within the cut-off time as well. We enjoyed the experience of running for a good cause, to help raise funds in giving away shoes to the childrens who are in need.

Loot-bag were given to those runners who was able to finish within the cut-off time and it's exclusively given to 42K and 21K runners. Lucky to get mine full of Nestle products. Oh well, I love Milo since I was a kid and even up to now I am still enjoying it.

I also bought a shirt that costs 100 Php enough to replace my wet shirt after the run. A great run (Milo and Runrio) and still looking forward to run in this event every year. Setting personal record and beating the previous time. Might as well challenge myself to do full-marathon the coming years. Who knows, by constant training I can achieve that in time.
